Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

FitHopper is an app to keep track of strength training and cardio, with goals, records, steps and a coach. This privacy policy explains which data FitHopper uses, what for, who it is shared with and what your rights are.

Who we are

FitHopper is made and offered by Kluin Studio, Veilingstraat 30, 7391 GM Twello, the Netherlands (kluinstudio.com). Kluin Studio is responsible for the processing of your data. Questions about privacy can be sent to info@kluinstudio.com.

What data we process

Your account. Your name, email address and password (which we only store encrypted, as a hash). We create accounts for you; you cannot sign up yourself. Also your time zone, so workouts land on the right day, and the language of your phone, so the app and the coach answer in your language.

Your body. Your height and weight, if you enter them. FitHopper uses them to estimate calories and steps.

Your workouts. Strength sessions with exercises, sets, reps and weights, and activities such as walks, runs, rides and swims, with date and time, duration, distance, calories, steps, elevation gain, heart rate (when an import contains it) and your own notes. Also your goals, your records and the activities you have hidden.

Data from Health Connect. If you allow it, FitHopper reads from Health Connect on your phone:

FitHopper only reads and writes nothing to Health Connect. Your steps are stored per day in your FitHopper account, and workouts as activities, so they count in your overviews and you keep them on a new phone. You can revoke access at any time in the Health Connect settings.

Files you import yourself. An export from Garmin Connect (CSV) or from Apple Health. We read your activities from it and store them as activities. We do not keep the file itself.

Conversations with the coach. The questions you ask the coach and its answers. We keep them so you can continue a conversation. We also keep whether and when you agreed to share your data with the coach.

Reports. When you report an answer of the coach, we keep that answer with the reason you give, if any, so we can review it.

Technical data. To keep you signed in, the app stores an access token on your phone. It is excluded from your phone's backups. For security and troubleshooting our server keeps a log of requests, including the IP address. We keep that log briefly and use it for nothing else.

FitHopper contains no ads, no advertising ID, no analytics services and no third party tracking.

What we use your data for

We do not sell your data, do not use it for advertising and do not build profiles of you for others. We do not use data from Health Connect to determine creditworthiness, insurability or suitability for employment.

The use of information FitHopper receives from Health Connect adheres to Google's Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The coach and Anthropic

The coach in FitHopper is an AI assistant. When you ask the coach a question, we send your question to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude language model), together with the data the coach needs to answer it: your first name, height and weight, and from your account your workouts, activities (including those that came from Health Connect, with heart rate where it was recorded), steps, goals and records for the period your question is about.

Anthropic processes this data only on our behalf, to produce the answer. Anthropic does not use it to train its models and keeps it only for a limited time, under its terms for business customers. Anthropic is based in the United States. The transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your data only goes to Anthropic when you have agreed to it in the app and ask the coach something yourself. Before its first use the coach explains what goes to Anthropic and asks for your consent; without it the coach does not work and nothing is sent. In Profile you see when you agreed and can withdraw your consent. After that the coach sends nothing until you agree again.

If an answer of the coach is wrong or inappropriate, report it in the app with Report below the answer. We review the report; it is not sent to Anthropic.

Who we share data with

We only share your data with parties that process it on our behalf:

Beyond that we only disclose data when the law requires us to.

Legal basis

We process your account and workout data because it is needed to provide FitHopper to you (performance of a contract). Data about your health, such as weight, heart rate and data from Health Connect, we process with your explicit consent. You give it by granting access in Health Connect, entering the data or agreeing in the app to share it with the coach, and you can withdraw it at any time (in Health Connect and in Profile).

Security

All connections between the app and our server are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are only stored as a hash. The database is on a server only we manage, and only we have access to it. Nobody looks at your data, unless you ask us to (for example with a problem), it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

How long we keep data

As long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app, your account and all data that belongs to it are gone straight away: your workouts, sets, activities, steps, goals, weight, conversations with the coach and reports. When you request it by email, we do so within 30 days. Data in Health Connect on your phone stays there; you manage that yourself.

Deleting your account and data

In the app: Profile, Delete account. You are then signed out and nothing of your account is left on your phone. If you can no longer sign in, request it at fithopper.nl/en/data-deletion or send an email to info@kluinstudio.com from your account's email address. If you only want certain data gone, that is possible too: you can delete or hide activities in the app, and for anything else an email is enough.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, receive a copy in a common format, and object to or ask for restriction of the processing. Email info@kluinstudio.com for any of these. We answer within a month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your country.

Age

FitHopper is intended for people aged 18 and over.

Changes

When we change this privacy policy, we put the new version on this page with a new date. For important changes we also let you know in the app.
